Celebrating its 17th year, the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business Hall of Fame is proud to announce three prominent Salina businesspersons scheduled to be inducted into the 2022 class. They are Mabel Shelton (Historic Category 1926-1975); Mel Jarvis (Historic Category 1926-1975); Larry Triplett (Contemporary Category 1976-present).
The Salina Business Hall of Fame taskforce also announces a new award that will be presented this year to recognize an emerging entrepreneur in our community. The award is called the Spirit of Salina award and the awardee selected represents the "best of the best" in terms of overcoming obstacles, believing in their dreams, taking risks, and persisting as a small business owner. They embody a spirit - the entrepreneurial spirit of Salina - and those that have come before. This awardee will be named during the Business Hall of Fame induction ceremony!
The induction ceremony will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., at the Salina Country Club. Kansas State University President, Dr. Richard Linton, will be the featured speaker.
The Salina Business Hall of Fame was established by the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce in 2005. Its purpose is to recognize and honor Salina business leaders, both past and present, who have made extraordinary contributions to Salina, earned the respect of the local community, and called attention to the Free Enterprise system and its value to our country and citizens in shaping Salina’s way of life.
Each inductee will be recognized with a commemorative plaque. In addition, plaques honoring each inductee will be displayed at the Chamber office, 120 W. Ash. A biography of each inductee will be printed and distributed at the luncheon.
“The Salina Business Hall of Fame is a celebration and the best way to say thank you and recognize the men and women of Salina for not only their business accomplishments but for their charitable contributions to the community. The inclusion of the new Spirit of Salina award is a fantastic way to recognize relatively newly established businesses and hopefully, expand the audience of the Salina Business Hall of Fame and its members”, stated Eric L. Brown, Chamber President and CEO.
Tickets for the induction ceremony are $30 per person and can be purchased by registering online on the Chamber’s website at www.salinakansas.org, or by calling the Chamber office at 827-9301, or by emailing Sandy Cole at scole@salinakansas.org.
