Rolling Hills Zoo is hosting summer day camps for kids in June and July, with overnight camps in May and July Each of four day camps are offered for 4 to 5 year olds, 6 to 7 year olds, 8 to 11 year olds, and Junior Zoo Keepers for kids finishing 6th through 8th grades. The overnight camps are for children 8 to 12 years of age.
Wildlife Adventure Camps feature live animals, games, crafts, and snack time during 2-1/2 hour programs designed especially for campers aged four to seven. Each week a new theme will be presented, with the sessions for four- and five-year-old campers on Mondays, and the camps for six- and seven-year-old campers on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Campers can enroll in any number of the nine sessions. Wildlife Adventure Camp tuition is $13.50 for Rolling Hills Zoo members and $15.00 for non-members per camp.
Wildlife Explorer Camps feature animal interactions and behind-the-scenes explorations, with games, crafts, and lunch during 6-hour programs just for campers aged eight to eleven. Each week, a new theme will be presented on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Campers can enroll in any number of the nine sessions. Wildlife Explorer Camp tuition is $27.00 for Rolling Hills Zoo members and $30.00 for non-members per camp.
Junior Zoo Keepers is offered to youth finishing grades 6th through 8th where participants engage in actual zookeeper chores, develop exhibits, learn how to behavior train animals, and learn more about animal genetics. JZK is held every Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to Noon from June 25th through July 23th. Tuition for JZK is $67.50 for members and $75 for non-members for the entire 5-week session.
“Creatures of the Night” is the boys-only and girls-only overnight camp sponsored by Chili’s Grill & Bar of Salina. The overnight camps for kids aged 8 to 12 will be held Fridays, May 29th and July 31st for boys and Saturday, May 30th and Friday, July 31st for girls. Campers will enjoy dinner provided by Chili’s, make and take home a zoo-themed craft, and experience an after-dark tour of the wildlife museum and zoo – including the new bat exhibit, complete with a souvenir flashlight. A bedtime movie with popcorn will be followed by an early morning breakfast and tram ride through the zoo. Creatures of the Night starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Overnight Camp tuition is $35.00 for zoo members and $37.50 for non-members.
