Women in Agriculture: Managing Risk in Today’s Environment Managing Risk in Today’s Environment is the topic of this spring’s Saline County Women in Ag meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 7. The speaker will be Dr. Elizabeth Yeager, Kansas State University Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics. Risk management is central to successful farm management. Traditionally, most farms have focused their attention on one particular aspect of risk, namely price and yield risk. In reality, farms face countless risks to their operations including prices and yields, but also including weather, operation, human resource, legal, and other risks. Understanding the interactions and management of these risks is no small task. This interactive presentation will guide you to think about risk on the farm more holistically as well as provide strategies for managing in times of financial stress. If you are a woman involved in agriculture, whether producer, spouse, or landlord, or are interested in learning more, plan to attend this free Women in Ag program. The session will be at the Redeemer Lutheran Church at 743 E. Magnolia, Salina, KS. Registration begins at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 pm. Drinks and dessert will be served.
